History
Stainzerbauer is an institution in the Styrian capital Graz and looks back on a long tradition and history. The restaurant is located in one of the oldest town houses of the historic Graz inner city area, in the Bürgergasse, a street name linked to the history of the building. Situated in the immediate vicinity of Graz Cathedral and the theatre (Schauspielhaus), the building already housed a restaurant during the 19th century. Leading citizens throughout the Austrian-Hungarian Empire greatly valued fine food, a tradition which helped our house to achieve its reputation for refined hospitality.
The Pfeifer family who own and run the restaurant today make it a priority that this great tradition is given suitable prominence. Their own contributions to it include meticulous attention to cultivating relations with guests and to preparing the food. A century ago the restaurant clientele was drawn from the local upper classes. Today lovers of a fine food from around the world come here, people who appreciate finest cuisine, scrupulously selected ingredients, choicest wines and service of perfection.
And on long and warm summer nights our guests delight in the fine restaurant garden in one of the most beautiful courtyards in Graz.
